Introducing SPIDER 2SGS EFI: An RC Mower with Electronic Fuel Injection Technology

When it comes to steep-slope mowers, SPIDER has been dedicated to leading the industry in safety, quality and versatility, while also offering America’s Best RC Slope Mower Warranty.

With our standard lineup of mower models, we’ve offered features like skid steering, a powerful Kawasaki engine and the climbing ability to mow up to 55 degrees (with official certification available upon request) — among many other benefits.

Now, with the addition of our SPIDER 2SGS EFI, there’s even more to love.

What Is the SPIDER 2SGS EFI?

The SPIDER 2SGS EFI is our newest SPIDER mower model, which offers 30% higher productivity than its predecessor (SPIDER 2SGS). With its four-wheel drive system, high-quality parts and new EFI engine, this mower can tackle super-steep slopes of up to a shocking 60 degrees — the steepest degree available on the market today!

The Kawasaki EFI fuel management system is specially designed to continuously adjust power to load, which helps ensure the blade tip speed and ground speed are both consistent.

Similar to the SPIDER 2SGS, the SPIDER 2SGS EFI is an ideal mower for tackling hard-to-reach spots, like grass or brush underneath PV panels. In a nutshell, this mower offers:

  • A hydraulic winch to enable mower to mow uphill at angles up to 60 degrees
  • Low height in order to access hard-to-reach areas
  • The ability to efficiently mow up to 2.1 acres/hr.
  • A powerful Kawasaki FS730V-EFI engine
  • Convenient and safe remote-control operation
  • An omnidirectional travel system
  • Skid steering

The SPIDER 2SGS EFI is an ideal option for many different terrains and can match the productivity of up to 16 brush cutters or a tractor with a cutting arm. It outputs 30% higher productivity in tough terrain, such as overgrown grass, steep slopes or under solar panels, compared to the original SPIDER 2SGS. Watch the SPIDER 2SGS EFI in action now!

What Is Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Technology?

Over the past several years, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been putting pressure on manufacturers to reduce their products’ emissions, which birthed the emergence of electronic fuel injection.

Electronic fuel injection is a technology that injects fuel directly into an engine’s manifold or cylinder through the use of electronic controls.

How Does EFI Work?

Almost any EFI system is made up of a fuel pump, fuel injectors, sensors and an engine control unit (also known as an ECU).

The way it works is that fuel is pumped up from the tank through a fuel pump and out into a fuel injection rail, which then pumps into individual injectors that lead directly into the intake manifold. The engine control unit controls the injectors, regulating how much fuel is injected and for how long.

Why Is EFI Beneficial in a Slope Mower?

The main benefit of EFI technology is that it optimizes the fuel-to-air ratio entering the engine. It allows for easier startup, more consistent power, improved fuel efficiency, less required maintenance, fewer emissions and more.

When you’re utilizing a slope mower day in and day out for large areas with challenging terrain, it’s essential to have a mower that can handle it all. Not to mention, handle it without delay between different terrains — the SPIDER 2SGS EFI is consistently as fast and efficient on park grass as it is on heavy brush.

It also allows for consistent fuel usage and less emissions, which saves money and helps the planet, all at the same time.
